Make it Malmö – 'Högdager'

Earlier this spring, we were contacted by Form/Design Center, a local art and design gallery. They commissioned TypeO design studio to curate and assemble objects and furniture by local designers for a small Malmö hotel room. The objective of 'Make it Malmö' is to showcase the vibrant design scene of Skåne, Sweden’s southernmost county.
Throughout the summer of 2018, the hotel room at Ohboy hotel in the city of Malmö will host international influencers from all over the globe, who will stay in a space surrounded by local design, reflecting the progressive and eclectic vibe of Sweden’s third largest city, it’s surroundings and it’s design scene.
The project is made up of two parts. We dubbed the first half of the project ’Högdager’, which translates to highlight.
The ‘Högdager’ interior concept is inspired by long, bright summer nights, with dramatic color changes at dusk. But also the cobbled alleys in the Gamla väster (old town) neighbourhood in Malmö, lined with small houses in a rainbow of pastels.
The intimate and cocoon-like space, is filled with objects from no less than 65 different designs from 33 local designers, all working in unison to make this temporary home personal, layered and homey. Many of the items in 'Högdager' are temporarily available from Form/Design Center's webb store.
The second half of the project means that the room is being revamped, still using local designers, but creating an entirely different ambiance. The latter is dubbed ’Lågdager’ – shadow.
Judging from the positive feed back that we have had through the grape vine, Tourism in Skåne and Malmö Stad, who are the main sponsors of this project, Micha and I are happy, proud and ready to get to work on the ‘Lågdager’ part of this interior design project. Stay tuned!
