Make it Malmö – 'Lågdager'
Text: Micha van Dinther Photography: Mike Karlsson Lundgren
Following ’Högdager’, the first of a two-part collaboration with Form/Design Center in Malmö in Sweden, we have just completed ’Lågdager’, the second and final part of the project.
‘Lågdager’, which translates to shadow, is a nod to Malmö’s past as an industrial city, with industrial materials such as steel, concrete, stone and glass permeating the space.
Intended to host the over a hundred international journalists and influencers to visit and explore the city’s prosperous design scene between May 1stand September 30th, the design-oriented temporary hotel room features the work of local designers, craftsmen and manufacturers, which we had the immense pleasure of hand-selecting.
The region’s creativity is literally reflected in every square metre of the room, housed in Ohboy hotel.
Aside from the obvious joy of designing a hotel room of your own, one of the true highlight with this project has been to personally get to know so many of the region’s talented creatives.
We love to be able to be the very first to showcase architectural duo Förstberg & Ling’s ‘Pall’, and go mad for Jenny Nordberg’s ‘3 to 5 Seconds’ silver mirrors. The project wouldn’t be what it is without Kajsa Willner’s striking pieces, or Butler/Lindgård’s stunning ‘Traces’ linen throw. There are simply to many great designs and designers to mention …
It has been both eye-opening and stimulating to explore what greatness is designed and produced at such close proximity – the region of Skåne’s design scene is definitely one to watch.
